For some patterns we are instructed first to fasten off the old yarn and than to start with the new color of yarn. To join a new yarn, follow the steps below:
1. Fasten off the old color yarn, insert the hook in the 2 top loops of the intended stitch (the stitch where you would like to join the new color yarn).
2. Leave a few cm/inches tail, yarn over.
3. Draw yarn through the 2 loops on the hook.
4. Continue making specified number of chains for the first stitch on the working row (the loop on the hook should not be counted as a chain).
Some patterns will instruct you to continue crocheting in the same base stitch (picture below), others - from the next stitch. Follow the pattern strictly, otherwise you will end up with different number of stitches.
